Art Influences

I've been thinking a lot about art influences these days, since I always find it interesting to read about where other people's. Looking at all of the people who have inspired me over the years, I can definitely understand why my style is such a mixed breed, as I don't really feel my style is strictly cartoon or anime or comic book. So, I'm going to list a few of the people who come to mind as inspirations to me, and if you'd like to share yours, please do! I love seeing what inspires people and seeing how it can affect a person's style, it's fascinating!

For general cartoon styles:
Disney/Pixar (of course), Avatar TLA/LOK, Adventure Time, TDI/16teen, etc.

Shoujo in general tbh, but a few artists that stand out are: Kaori Yuki, Yuu Watase, Arina Tanemura, Obana Miho, Rumiko Takahashi and Yoko Kamio.
And of course, so many of my artist friends have been a huge inspiration over the years. It would take up an entire page to name all of them, so I won't be doing that. I also know I am forgetting people in this list, so so many people, but I just wanted to share because I think it's interesting how varied the artists that inspire me are. Late Night Journal

Hello again!
I'm super pleased that I got such a warm welcome back, and I wanted to thank you all for that! I'm still going to be slow at doing stuff, since I work quite a bit these days (six days straight next week - rip me ), but I'll try and continue my activity!
That being said, I had a bit of a rough week, as a long-time online friend of mine passed away... It was a huge shock to me, and I'm still not entirely able to wrap my head around it... Honestly, it's reminded me again how short life is, and how important it is to make the most of the time I have. Also, to make sure the people in my life know how much they mean to mean. Please, make sure to tell your loved ones how you feel. You never know what life is going to throw at you, or when you will speak to a person for the last time, so make sure to make it count.
That being said, I finished my recent commission and am hoping to get right back to working on stuff related to my comic - it's important to me and I need to make it a priority if I want to shoot for my goals. I also joined a Discord server for artists, which has been such a great experience! Having more people to talk about art and webcomics with has been very helpful, and if you are interested in having people give you feedback and encouragement, you should definitely talk to
about joining. I really can't thank her and the group enough for having me.
I know there was more I wanted to say, but it's after midnight and I'm really tired. I guess I should know better than to post in the middle of the night, but I just wanted to share all of this with you guys. Thank you for sticking by me, and I hope to talk more with you all soon.

It's 2018, and I am Back!

Has it really been a year since I uploaded a journal on here...? Wow... 
Okay then! I guess this is even more overdue than I realized. *brushes off dust*
First off, hello lovelies! <3 I'm sorry for my absence, but the last year has been... A very insane one, let's put it that way. I won't bore you with too many details on my personal life, since it would honestly take a really long time to fill you in on all of the craziness. You're best off following my Twitter if you want to know that sort of thing, as I'm quite active on there these days.
In terms of art, I feel like my art has changed a LOT over the last year. Or well, maybe changed is the wrong word for it? I guess improved is more appropriate? In any case, I saved up and bought myself a Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S-Pen and that has made such a huge difference for me as an artist! The tablet has Wacom technology, so it's the closest thing to a Cintiq a poor person like myself can afford lol. While it means I can't use the programs I'm used to using, I did buy a copy of the program Ibis Paint X, and I'm pretty happy with how things are progressing.
That said, yes, I've actually been drawing up a storm! I just... Haven't posted any of it here. It's all up on my Tumblr and Twitter. I am going to start uploading some of it on here, but I don't want to flood you guys, so I'll try not to post too much at once.
The main reason I decided I want to start posting on here again is because I've been working really hard at starting up a webcomic, which I'm hoping to launch at some point this year. Character designs are close to finished, and I'll definitely be posting those on here for you guys to check out. I'm probably going to start sending out commission requests for other people to do drawings of my babies from that series as well, since I love seeing my babies drawn in different styles. I'm also hoping to get some more commission work myself, but we'll see how that goes.
My other goal is to get enough work done up that I can try tabling at a convention for the first time. I'm aiming for Tsukino Con 2019, unless I find something else before that. I've never worked a convention, but it looks like so much fun! I'd really love to network with other artists more, especially since I'm hoping to get at least a few readers for my webcomic, once I launch it.
Before I wrap this up, I should probably mention that the webcomic I'm working on is a parody of the show Married at First Sight, and is called Married at First Bite. The characters are almost exclusively monsters in my version, which has been a hell of a lot of fun for me in terms of character design. I'll be uploading those character designs soon, probably later today and tomorrow. Hope you all enjoy it!

Faceplanting into 2017

Happy belated New Year, DA! 
A lot of stuff has happened over the last while, yet again, but here I am! Still standing - sorta.
I hope you all had a fun and safe holiday! For me, it was... Not so fun... There was a death in my boyfriend's immediate family right before Christmas, and then I ended up having to move on New Year's Eve (longgg story!). Oh, and I turned the big 2-9 last month as well. @.@;
So, here I am now. My new place is finally getting more or less setup. I got my scanner working again, which is great! The internet here actually seems to work, so I may be around a bit more, if I am able. However, on top of work and spending time with Tom, my therapist signed me up for - wait for it..... SIX classes! Those start next week, so I am about to be an incredibly busy little bee.
That being said, despite all of the set backs I had last year, I am feeling at least somewhat hopeful that this year will be a year of growth. I'm going to continue working on my art, when I have the time, and hopefully get back to working on my visual novel. Thanks again to everyone who has stuck by me and continued to believe in me. Thank you!!

Still alive over here! Hello!
Sorry for the long absence. I'm afraid I still am having issues getting DA to work at home, but I'm off on medical leave for about a month, so I figure I might as well use the time to try and catch up with things on this website. I hope all of you have been doing much better than I have, but I will spare you the rant and just say that it has been a really awful couple of months (including several hospital stays). Since I can't go in to work, I am trying to keep myself busy, so I've been drawing a lot. Also, Inktober is right around the corner, so I'm hoping that will mean even more productivity (although I tend not to post my traditional art here because I rarely get anything scanned properly. RIP.)
Anyway! Sorry for being all ramble-y, it's late and I should probably go to bed soon. I hope you're all doing well. I'll try my best to post on here as much as I can, and hopefully when I get back, I'll have better luck with my internet.
